Indian women’s table tennis player Bhavina Patel has made history at the Tokyo Paraolympics 2020. She has secured her place in the finals of Class 4 Table Tennis. She is the first Indian to reach the final of this competition. She defeated Chinese paddler Zhang Miao 7-11, 11-7, 11-4, 9-11, 11-8 in the semifinals. With Bhavina Patel reaching the final, the silver medal for India has now been decided. And, if she makes history in the current super form and wins the finals, it will also give India its 5th gold medal in the history of the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
Just one step away from the gold medal
This is Bhavina Patel’s first Paralympic and in her first attempt, she has done well on the biggest stage in the field of sports. Bhavina, 34, from Ahmedabad, had earlier booked a ticket to the semi-finals. The world number two and 2016 Rio Paralympic gold medalist defeated Borislava Perich Rankov of Serbia 3-0 in a straight game in the semifinals and now she defeated the Chinese paddler 3-2 in the semifinals.
Winning a gold medal, Bhavina’s confidence
Bhavina’s goal now is a gold medal, she is confident that I will win a gold medal in any case. “I will try my best in the final and win the match,” said Bhavina, who is playing her first Paralympics. When I came here to play, I was just thinking about just focusing on the game and doing my best in the match and that’s what she’s been doing so far. “It’s just a matter of one match now,” Bhavina said.
Bhavina will win a gold medal, Indians believe
Bhavina has reached the final of the table tennis tournament at the Tokyo Paralympics and won a silver medal. Her goal is to win a gold medal and seeing the super form in which Bhavina is, Indians believe that she will win the gold medal too.
