The coronavirus may have slowed down, but its threat still remains. According to the latest report, a new variant of corona virus AY 4.2 has been found in seven patients of Indore. Genome sequencing of these patients was done in Delhi. In this this new and lethal variant has been confirmed. It is believed to be more contagious than the delta variant found in the past.
Seven people were found corona infected in Indore in September, of which samples were sent to Delhi for genome sequencing on September 21. The NCDC of Delhi has recently given the genome sequencing report. In this the AY 4.2 variant has been confirmed in these patients.
People of these areas of Indore got infected
Actually this is the new strain of the Delta variant wreaking havoc in the second wave. AY 4.2 was first detected in Maharashtra in April. It is a matter of relief that seven patients of Indore in whom AY 4.2 variant has been found have recovered from corona infection. Out of the seven people of Indore in whom AY 4.2 infection has been found, two are from New Palasia, one in the nearby area of Dubey’s garden, three are from Mahuka.
No need to panic: Dr. Malakar
Indore’s Nodal Officer Dr. Amit Malakar said that all the seven infected people have fully recovered. Research is currently going on around the world about how contagious the AY 4.2 variant is.
On the other hand, Dr. Ravi Dosi, a senior doctor of a private hospital, says that AY 4.2 is a more contagious virus. Its infection rate is high. That’s why people should still be very careful. Special care has to be taken during festivals. It is too early to say anything about the new variant. There is a risk of infection even after the vaccine, so do not roam freely after getting the vaccine.
