COVID-19: New Variant of Coronavirus found in France ‘IHU’

The omicron variant of the corona, which is being mutated in large numbers, has started making waves in the world. In India, this variant poses a threat of a third wave.

But researchers have now found a variant that mutates faster than Omicron. This has added to the worries of the world

The variant is called IHU (B.1.640.2) and was discovered by the IHU Mediterranean Infection Institute. Researchers say that this new variant has 46 mutations, more than omicron. The IHU variant, which has more mutations, is more resistant to corona vaccines and more contagious, the researchers said.

Researchers have found 12 patients of the IHU variant in Marseilles, France. These are the cases related to travel in the African country of Cameroon. In the meantime, Omicron is currently making its mark around the world.

But now the IHU variant is feared to spread rapidly. But B.1.640.2 has not yet been found in other countries, nor has the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that it is still under investigation.

The Omicron variant was found in a covid sample that arrived in South Africa on November 24, 2021. Since then it has spread to more than 100 countries. About 1,900 cases of this variant have been found in India.
