Ola Electric is very excited to launch its first electric scooter in the Indian market and is preparing for it. Ahead of the official launch of the scooter, Ola through its social media promotions has generated a lot of interest among the people. The company has already started the pre-bookings for this upcoming electric two-wheeler through its official website.

The launch of Ola Electric Scooter is likely to happen in the next few weeks. The company has got more than one lakh bookings in the first 24 hours of booking, which has increased over time. The company on July 15 announced the commencement of bookings on its official website for a token amount of Rs 499. Ahead of the official launch of the Ola e-scooter, here are 10 key things that we know about the latest electric vehicle coming to the Indian market.

 

1. The Ola electric scooter is likely to be offered in three variants. New documents filed by the company have revealed that the scooter is likely to be called Series S. The company has also filed patents for two other names – S1 and S1 Pro which could be additional variants or trims of the two-wheeler. While the S1 is likely to be used as the model name, the ‘S1 Pro’ could be an additional trim for the electric scooter.

2. The Ola electric scooter will be the first two-wheeler passenger vehicle to be introduced by the company. The Ola Future factory being built in Tamil Nadu will be the world’s largest factory for e-scooters. This is where Ola Electric will manufacture its upcoming electric scooters. Ola is building this plant on 500 acres of land at a cost of Rs 2,400 crore. The plant promises to produce around 2 lakh units every year once it is fully operational.

3. The Ola electric scooter may be based on the Etergo AppScooter. The scooter gets a swappable high-energy-density battery. However, according to media reports, a fixed battery is likely to be given in the Ola electric scooter. It claims to cover a range of up to 240 kms on a single full charge. However, under real-world conditions, it is likely to offer a range of around 150 kms on a single charge.

4. Ola Electric Scooters will be home delivered to customers across the country without the traditional dealership network. Ola will set up storage hubs across the country to make delivery fast and hassle-free. According to the report, Ola Electric has also created a logistics department for this. This department will look after the delivery of scooters. From booking to delivery, this department will assist the customers in every matter. From booking a scooter to applying for a vehicle loan, everything will be online. However, it will be known in the future how the service or replacement of parts will work without traditional dealers.

5. The Ola electric scooter is likely to have an electric motor between 3 Kw and 6 Kw. It can generate peak torque of around 50 Nm. The top speed of this electric two-wheeler can be up to 90 kmph. Using the company’s charger network, the Ola scooter can be charged up to 50 percent in just 18 minutes. After which it can easily cover a distance of up to 75 kilometers. It will take around 2 hours 30 minutes to get fully recharged. With the purchase of the Ola scooter, a home-charger unit will also be provided to charge it at home. However, if plugged into a regular home charging point, the electric two-wheeler can take up to five and a half hours to charge from zero to full.

6. Ola may offer this electric scooter with home charger for its customers. It will require no installation and customers will be able to charge their vehicle at home by plugging it into a regular wall socket. Ola Electric will offer its customers the feature of smartphone connectivity in their scooters to monitor the charging status in real time using the Ola Electric app. Payment for the service can also be done through this app.

7. A lot of features are expected to be given in the Ola electric scooter. It could get largest-in-class boot space, app-based keyless access, dual projector headlamps, a hook for carrying luggage, split-type rear grab handle, single-piece seat, external charging port, LED DRLs and taillight. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of getting a black colored floor mat and a fully digital instrument cluster.

8. The Ola electric scooter will be offered in 10 color options. Ola Electric CEO and Ola Cabs co-founder Bhavish Agarwal on Thursday announced that his upcoming Ola e-scooter will be launched in 10 color options. Bhavish took to Twitter to inquire about people’s preferences regarding the color option of the e-scooter and did a poll. After which he shared information about this on Twitter. The much-awaited Ola e-scooter will reportedly be offered in 10 colours. In which red, blue, yellow, silver, gold, pink, black, blue, gray and white colors are included.

9. Ola Electric will set up a ‘Hypercharger Network’ across the country which will cover one lakh charging points in 400 cities. In the first year, Ola is installing over 5,000 charging points across 100 cities in India. This will help Ola electric scooter owners to have easy access to the charging infrastructure.

10. The ex-showroom price of Ola’s e-scooter could be between Rs 1.2 lakh and Rs 1.4 lakh. After launching, it will compete with electric scooters like Ather 450X and TVS iQube in the Indian market.
